B-2 Trainer Kite Pre-Lesson Program……boost your lesson value!
At Board Crazy Kiteboarding School we are all about helping you become a competent Kiteboarder as quickly and as easily as possible. We want you out there boosting big, cutting loose and having a fantastic time on the water as soon as possible. You can really help shorten your learning phase heaps by spending some time flying a B-2 Trainer Kite. This is a great way to hone your kite flying skill ahead of coming along for your lesson.
As ‘kite flying’ is the basis of the sport of Kiteboarding, the sooner you hone those flying skills the better. We notice a huge difference between our students who have spent prior time with a B-2 Trainer Kite and those who haven’t. It’s really great fun and makes a big difference……why not include your family and friends, even the kids, take them down the beach for some fun flying sessions.
We always have B-2 Trainers available in the store for sale. But we also have them available for loan as part of our Kiteboarding Lesson Program. If you book and pay for your lesson in advance we will give you, on loan, a B-2 Trainer package including the B-2 Instructional DVD. This is our way of helping you prepare for and get the most out of your lesson session.

Where We Do Kiteboarding Lessons
The Newcastle and Lake Macquarie area has a fantastic variety of excellent riding locations that suite various wind directions and conditions.
The choice of location for your lesson will not be finalized until the day of the lesson, this is because we want to optimize the prevailing conditions for your lesson.
All we need is wind but not to much!!!
In the Summer season we conduct the majority of our lessons on the open beaches around the area, depending on wind strength, direction and conditions. Nobby's, Merewether, and Blacksmiths beaches are all regular training grounds for open-water lessons, whilst Belmont and Marmong Point are ideal for flat-water.

Board Crazy Instructors
All our Board Crazy instructors are IKO qualified to Level 2, which means they have reached the safety and proficiency standard of the International Kiteboarding Organization. As well they are members of AKS (Australian Kiteboarding Association) and strongly recommend that every rider join AKSA as soon as possible.
Our maximum course sizes are two students to one instructor to abide by safety regulations – unlike a lot of other schools.
Board Crazy has a 100% safety record, so you learn quickly and safely and be kiteboarding in no time.

Getting Your Own Gear
After learning, most people purchase their own kit which can be a daunting prospect. Instructors are therefore the best source for information with regards suitable kit as they can best assess your skills and requirements.
As a general rule, a good first kite is a 9-15 metre medium aspect kite, this will cover you for average winds in our area. Size will be dependant on weight - a 60kg person can use a 9m when an 80kg person is on a 15m for example.
Mid aspect kites tend to be more stable, have easy relaunchability and can be slowed down to make them more predictable, the ideal characteristics for learners. These kites will also take any rider well into their riding progression and will never be outgrown. The best board size to learn on is 140-160cm long and around 40cm wide. |
